Final phase of National Cup Chess begins

DHAKA, Feb 16, 2026 (BSS) - The final phase of the Spectrum Bangladesh 
National Cup Chess has begun at the Chess Federation hall room today 
(Monday).

Bangladesh Chess Federation President Syed Shujauddin Ahmed formally 
inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.

A total of thirty two players are participating in the event through a knock-
out system, including twelve players according to the rating list, sixteen 
players from the qualifying round and four players who got wild cards are 
participating in the event.

In the first round of matches, International Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman, 
International Master Manon Reja Neer, FIDE Master Sakline Mostafa Sajid, FIDE 
Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia, International Master Md. Minhaz Uddin, FIDE Master 
Khandaker Aminul Islam, FIDE Master Mohammad Javed, FIDE Master Mehdi Hasan 
Parag, FIDE Master Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan, Candidate 
Master Md. Abu Hanif and Candidate Master Md. Masum Hossain won their 
respective game and received full points. 

In the first round, IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman defeated Siam Chowdhury, IM 
Manon Reja Neer defeated CM Md. Nasim Hossain Bhuiyan, FM Sakline Mostafa 
Sajid defeated Jinnat Akhter Shahnaz, FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia defeated WCM Kazi 
Zarin Tasnim, IM Md. Minhaz Uddin Muhtady Tajwar Nasheed, FM Khandaker Aminul 
Islam defeated CM Md. Azmaeen Parvez Sayor, FM Mohammad Javed defeated WFM 
Warsia Khusbu, FM Mehedi Hasan Parag defeated CM Sohel Chowdhury, FM Syed 
Mahfuzur Rahman defeated WFM Noshin Anjum, CM Md. Abu Hanif defeated Anata 
Choudhury, Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan defeated Swarnavo Choudhury and CM Md. Masum 
Hossain defeated CM Md. Sajidul Haque. Rayan Rashid drew with Magdho FM 
Subrota Biswas, CM Zoar Haque Prodhan drew with IM Abu Sufian Shakil, CM Avik 
Sarker drew with FM Nayem Haque and CM Mahtabuddin Ahmed drew with FM Sheikh 
Nasir Ahmed.
