BOA mourns death of former athlete Mimu

DHAKA, March 14, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Bangladesh Athletics Federation (BAF) former executive committee member, former deputy director (training) of BKSP and national sports awardee Shamima Sattar Mimu.

The former athlete breathed her last due to a cardiac arrest at around 11 pm at her residence in the capital on Friday night at the age of 66.

Apart from Bangladesh Athletics Federation, she also served in Bangladesh Archery Federation. With her death, the country's sports arena has lost a skilled organizer and a dedicated sports personality. The BOA family is deeply saddened and shocked by the death of this renowned former athlete and organizer.

In a condolence message, the president of BOA and Army Chief Waker-Uz-Zaman and its Secretary General Jubaidur Rahman Rana, officials and employees expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Mimu and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
