DHAKA, March 16, 2026 (BSS)-Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim expressed
his ambition to hit more than 20 centuries in ODI cricket after achieving a
long-awaited personal milestone against Pakistan.

Tanzid scored a 107-run knock off 107 balls, including six fours and seven
sixes, helping Bangladesh post a formidable 290-5. His innings was
instrumental in the team's 11-run victory, sealing a 2-1 win in the three-
match series.

The century ended a long wait for both the player and Bangladesh fans, coming
after 75 appearances across ODIs and T20Is in which he had struggled to
convert fifties into hundreds.

Speaking after the match, Tanzid reflected on his journey: "It feels a little
bad when it doesn't happen, maybe it should have happened earlier. But I had
many good innings. I don't want to dwell on the past. I want to move
forward."

Tanzid's coach, Hannan Sarkar, had previously suggested the batter has the
potential to score at least 20 ODI centuries.

When asked, Tanzid said, "It could be more than 20. There is no problem in
dreaming big. I hope I can hit more than 20 centuries."

The innings also saw Tanzid set multiple records. He broke the record for the
most sixes by a Bangladesh batter in an ODI innings at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium
and hit the most sixes by a Bangladeshi in an ODI against Pakistan.

His explosive start included four sixes off Haris Rauf in the second over
and 30 runs in the first 10 overs of the powerplay, surpassing Liton Das'
previous record for most powerplay sixes for Bangladesh.

Known for his aggressive style, Tanzid emphasized that his attacking approach
comes from a positive mindset rather than a set plan.

"When I bat, my mentality is positive. I always try to hit boundaries with
whatever is in my range," he said.

Bangladesh ODI captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz praised Tanzid's innings,
highlighting its importance to the team's performance.

"I think the way Tanzid plays cricket, he should score runs most days. If he
scores runs, it will be a big help for the team," Miraz said.

Tanzid's century comes after a 12-match gap since Towhid Hridoy's century in
the 2025 Champions Trophy, marking a significant moment for Bangladesh
cricket.

His remarkable innings not only provides personal satisfaction but also
signals the start of what could be a prolific run in his international
career.
