
BAGERHAT, March 24, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) seized 66 kilograms of ganja and arrested a man during an operation in Kachua upazila of the district last night.
According to law enforcement sources, a team of drug traffickers was transporting narcotics in a pickup van loaded with wooden crates from Cumilla to Chalitakhali village in Pirojpur. Acting on confidential information, a RAB-6 team set up a checkpoint on the Bagerhat-Pirojpur highway.
The suspected vehicle entered the Signboard Oil Pump area, where RAB-6 officials signaled it to stop. During the search, the team discovered 66 kilograms of ganja concealed behind the driver's seat.
One suspect, identified as Manjarul, 35, was arrested on the spot, while the driver managed to flee.
Initial interrogation revealed that the arrested man had allegedly been involved in collecting drugs from various border regions and distributing them across coastal districts.
The seized consignment was reportedly destined for an individual named Vikram in Chalitakhali village of Pirojpur.
Officer-in-Charge of Kachua Police Station Md Shafiqul Islam confirmed the matter and said a case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
The arrested man will be produced before the court following interrogation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the trafficking network, he said.
