JOHANNESBURG, April 12, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - Ahmed Hammoudan and Khalid Ait Ouarkhane scored in the second half to give FAR Rabat a 2-0 win over Renaissance Berkane on Saturday in an all-Moroccan CAF Champions League semi-final first leg.

Hammoudan snatched a scrappy goal after 58 minutes and Ait Ouarkhane netted with a hard, low drive on 80 minutes before a sell-out 40,000 crowd in Rabat.

The result puts FAR in a favourable position to reach the final for the first time since 1985, when the competition was called the African Cup of Champions Clubs and had a different format.

Berkane are competing in the premier African club competition for the first time after winning the second-tier CAF Confederation Cup three times from 2020.

After a first half devoid of clearcut chances, FAR took control and deservedly went in front just before the hour mark.

Berkane midfielder Yassine Labhiri was dispossessed, leading to a swift FAR counterattack that culminated in Hammoudan scoring his second goal of the African campaign.

When a low cross deflected off a Berkane defender, Ait Ouarkhane slammed the ball into the corner of the net from the edge of the box.

On Sunday, Esperance of Tunisia host Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the first leg of the other semi-final. Both return matches are on April 18.
