JASHORE, April 11, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit today said the government is working sincerely to reduce public suffering as the global energy crisis has also affected Bangladesh.

"The irrigation season is now underway. The government is ensuring that farmers are not affected in any way. Electricity and fuel oil are being supplied without interruption for agricultural use," he told reporters after visiting the programme site ahead of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's upcoming visit to Jashore.

Aninda said the Prime Minister will travel to Ulashi in Sharsha Upazila from Jashore Airport on the morning of April 27. There, he will take part in the re-excavation of Ulashi Canal, which is associated with the memory of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.

He added that the Prime Minister will later lay the foundation stone of Jashore Medical College Hospital. After that, he will visit the Jashore Institute Public Library and address a public rally at Eidgah Maidan.

"The wheel of development that remained stagnant in Jashore for the past 17 years will be set in motion again through the Prime Minister's visit," he said.

The state minister also noted that late Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia had announced the establishment of a 500-bed medical college hospital in Jashore at a public meeting at Eidgah Maidan in 2006.

"Even before the last election, we had a political commitment to build this hospital if elected. In continuation of that, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of this hospital," he added.

Earlier in the morning, Aninda chaired a meeting with heads of various government departments at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room to review preparations for the visit.

Later, he visited the proposed site for the Jashore Medical College Hospital and the Ulashi Canal area in Sharsha Upazila.
