6 establishments fined for irregularities in soybean oil sale in Bogura

BOGURA, April 11, 2026 (BSS) - Six business establishments at Rajabazar in Bogura were fined a total of Tk 35,000 today during a joint enforcement drive over irregularities in the sale of open and bottled soybean oil.

The operation was conducted by the Consumer Affairs Department in coordination with RAB-12, Bogura, and the district police.

Led by Md. Mehedi Hasan, Assistant Director of the Consumer Affairs Department, the drive inspected market conditions focusing on the availability of soybean oil, display of price lists, maintenance of purchase and sales vouchers, and compliance with government-fixed prices.

During the drive, four establishments were fined Tk 10,000 in total for failing to update price lists. M/s AK Traders was fined Tk 5,000 for not preserving purchase and sale vouchers, while M/s Mandal Traders received a Tk 20,000 fine for selling bottled soybean oil at prices higher than the government-set rate.

Officials urged traders to help maintain market stability by avoiding stockpiling of soybean oil and ensuring strict compliance with government pricing regulations. 

They also stressed the importance of maintaining proper documentation of transactions to ensure transparency and accountability.
