Elderly woman killed in Jamalpur train accident

JAMALPUR, April 11, 2026 (BSS) - A 90-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a speeding intercity train in the Narundi area of Jamalpur Sadar upazila this morning.

The deceased was identified as Nurbanu, wife of the late Aktaruzzam, a resident of Nalkuri village in the upazila.

According to railway police, the accident occurred around 8:20 am when the Dhaka-bound Brahmaputra Express coming from Dewanganj station struck her while she was crossing the railway tracks.

Officer-in-Charge of Jamalpur Railway Police Md Rabiul Islam confirmed the accident.
