JASHORE, April 11, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit has announced that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will visit Jashore on April 27 to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for key development projects.

Speaking to journalists after inspecting venues for the visit, he said the Prime Minister will travel from Jashore Airport to Ulashi in Sharsha upazila, where he will take part in the re-excavation of the historic Ulashi canal linked to Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.

He added that after returning to Jashore town, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of Jashore Medical College Hospital, visit the Jashore Institute Public Library and address a public rally at Jashore Eidgah Maidan.

The state minister said the visit is expected to accelerate development in the district, which remained stalled for years.

He noted that the long-awaited medical college hospital project, originally announced in 2006, will finally be initiated as part of the government's commitment.

Earlier in the day, Amit held a preparatory meeting with officials at the Deputy Commissioner's office and visited the proposed hospital site and the Ulashi canal in Sharsha upazila.

District administration officials, police and local political leaders were present during the visit.
