4 held with illegal fuel in Hatia

DHAKA, April 11, 2026 (BSS) - Members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard detained four people along with a large quantity of illegal fuel during a drive in Hatia upazila of Noakhali this morning.

On information, a team from the Coast Guard Station Hatia conducted a special operation at around 6:30 am in the Meghna River near Nolchira Ghat under Hatia Police Station, said Coast Guard sources.

During the drive, the team seized approximately 4,800 litres of petrol and 2,015 litres of diesel, worth about Tk 791,000, allegedly brought from a foreign oil tanker evading customs duties. Two engine-driven wooden boats used for transportation were also seized.

The detained individuals along with the seized fuel are being handed over to Hatia Police Station for further legal action, the sources added.
