ISWR clinches 3rd consecutive title in DU Inter-Dept Cricket Tournament

DHAKA, April 15, 2026 (BSS) - The Institute of Social Welfare and Research 
(ISWR) emerged champions in the Dhaka University (DU) Inter-Department 
Cricket Tournament 2025-26, defeating the Department of Sociology by six 
wickets in a thrilling final held today.

After winning the toss, ISWR elected to field first. Powered by a half-
century from Ifti, the Sociology team set a target of 164 runs at the end of 
their allotted 20 overs.

In response, ISWR chased down the target comfortably, losing six wickets to 
seal the victory and secure their third consecutive title. Mahfizul Islam 
Robin played a match-winning innings of 75 runs while Tanzim Farhan added 62 
runs to guide the team to victory.

Mahfizul Islam Robin was adjudged Player of the Match for his outstanding 
performance while ISWR Captain Sifat Sadik Khan was named Player of the 
Tournament.

Prizes were distributed among the winners after the match. 

President of the Dhaka University Cricket Committee Md. Mahbub Kaisar, 
Director of ISWR Dr. Mahbuba Sultana, Chairperson of the Sociology Department 
Dr. Fatema Rezina Iqbal and ISWR Student Adviser Dr. Sheikh Touhidul Islam 
were present, among others.

At the end of the tournament, medals and trophies were distributed among the 
players. 

ISWR Student Adviser Professor Dr. Sheikh Touhidul Islam also awarded 
financial incentives to players for notable performances throughout the 
tournament, including half-centuries, centuries, taking three or more 
wickets, and outstanding fielding.
