DHAKA, May 21, 2026 (BSS)—All-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin believes Australia could pose a difficult challenge during next month’s tour of Bangladesh because many of their players are already familiar with subcontinent conditions through the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Australia tasted a 4-1 defeat to Bangladesh in five-match T20 series in their last tour here in 2021.

The Bangladesh pace bowling all-rounder, however, thinks the visitors’ regular participation in the IPL would help them to adapt to conditions similar to those they will face during the series.

“Of course, Australia is a very strong team. And since most of their players are playing the IPL, they are familiar with conditions like ours. It will be a very challenging series,” Saifuddin said.

Bangladesh head into the series with renewed confidence after recent home series victories over New Zealand and Pakistan.

“We have played very well as a team in our past home series. We have won series at home against New Zealand and Pakistan,” he added.

Despite acknowledging Australia’s strength, Saifuddin said Bangladesh are ready for the challenge.

“We will try, we are ready to take on the challenge,” he said.

Bangladesh and Australia are scheduled to play a three-match ODI series beginning on June 9 in Mirpur, followed by a three-match T20I series in Chittagong.
