DHAKA, June 6, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib said he is recovering from a hip bone fracture and is expected to remain sidelined for several weeks.

In a statement posted on social media today, Tanzim said he felt compelled to clarify his condition amid what he described as confusing reports circulating in various places.

"A few days ago, I was diagnosed with a fracture of my hip bone," he said.

The pacer added that the Bangladesh Cricket Board's medical team consulted a surgeon in New Zealand as well as the New Zealand cricket team's physiotherapist before deciding against immediate surgical intervention.

"Our BCB medical team, after talking to the New Zealand surgeon and their cricket team physio, agreed to go for natural healing," Tanzim said.

According to the fast bowler, the recovery process will require patience, with doctors planning another MRI scan in six to seven weeks to assess whether the bone has healed sufficiently.

"Normally it takes 6-7 weeks to get another MRI to see if the bone has become hard or not," he explained.

Tanzim is currently undergoing a period of complete rest and said rehabilitation and a gradual return to bowling will begin only after medical assessments confirm adequate healing.

"I am currently in a resting period. If the bone becomes hard, my rehab and bowling will start gradually," he said.

Calling it a process that will take time, the 24-year-old sought prayers from supporters for a successful recovery.

The injury comes as a setback for Bangladesh ahead of a busy international calendar, with Tanzim having established himself as an important member of the national team's pace attack across formats.
