DHAKA, Sept 5, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh forward Md Ismail Hosen has been ruled out of the ongoing Men's U-20 Junior Asia Cup Hockey tournament after sustaining a leg injury during the match against China, said a press release.

Medical evaluations confirmed that Ismail suffered a non-displaced hairline fracture to his left ankle (distal fibula) and a contusion on his left knee. Under medical supervision, he has already begun a conservative rehabilitation program.

Fortunately, surgery is not required. His expected recovery and return-to-play timeline is ten to twelve weeks.

Following this injury, Sabbir Hossain Konok has been called up to join the squad as Ismail's official replacement for the remainder of the tournament.

The team management and federation wished Ismail a smooth, complete, and speedy recovery, and extended a warm welcome to Sabbir as he steps into the team.
