GAZIPUR, Sept 5, 2026 (BSS) - Two passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between the auto-rickshaw and a covered van in the Chairmarman Bari area under Kaliakair upazila of the district today.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The accident occurred around 11.30 am on the Kaliakair-Phulbaria-Mawna road when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a covered van, leaving four passengers and the CNG driver injured.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Kaliakair Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared two injured dead.

Kaliakair Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam confirmed the incident.

Legal proceedings in connection with the accident are underway, the OC said.
