Fire breaks out in a Khulna hotel

KHULNA, Sept 5, 2026 (BSS) - A fire broke out in a room of Hotel Tiger Garden in the city this morning, reportedly due to an electrical short circuit.

The incident occurred at around 9:05 am on the fifth floor of the hotel. Two units of the Fire Service brought the blaze under control at around 9:45 am.

Police and local people said they noticed flames and thick smoke coming from a room on the southern side of the fifth floor and informed Sonadanga Police Station.

Police rushed to the spot and alerted the Fire Service. Police and firefighters jointly worked to contain the blaze.

SI Amzad of Sonadanga Police Station said no one was injured in the incident. A bag belonging to the person who had rented the room was burnt in the fire, while no other significant damage was reported.

Khulna Fire Service Deputy Director Masud Sardar said they received the information at around 9:10 am and sent two units from Boyra Fire Station to the scene.

The fire was brought fully under control by around 9:45 am, he said, adding that the blaze appeared to have originated from the indoor unit of the room's air conditioner.
No casualties were reported in the incident, he added.
