China Ambassador Cup Wushu begins in capital

DHAKA, Sept 5, 2026 (BSS) - The eighth China Ambassador Cup Wushu Championship 
 began at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur today (Saturday) 
with the participation of 279 athletes from 19 clubs.

Former Air Vice-Marshal and Member of Parliament Altaf Hossain Choudhury 
formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.

Speaking as the chief guest, he said sports can play an important role in 
keeping young people healthy and helping them build a better society.

Bangladesh Wushu Federation (BWF) General Secretary Didar Hasan Dipu, who was 
present in the opening ceremony, said the federation is moving forward with a 
long-term plan to win medals in Wushu at the Asian level.

As part of this initiative, the federation is going to organise the South 
Asian Junior Wushu Championship to develop young athletes and prepare them 
for international competition.

BWF President Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, Tournament Committee Chairman SM Shahidul 
Islam Bhuiyan were present, among others, in the opening ceremony.
