3 drug addicts sentenced to imprisonment in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Sept 5, 2026 (BSS) - Three drug addicts were sentenced to imprisonment and fined in cash at Kasiadanga area in the city today.

Police sources said the convicts are: Saddam Hossain, 27, son of late Nur Hossain of Imamganj village under Godagari Thana; Sagar Ali, 35, son of Ali Hossain of the same village; and Sarwar Hossain Suman, 35, son of Entaj Ali of Bindarampur village under Damkura Thana of RMP.

An anti-narcotics drive was conducted with the assistance of the Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) Police along with an Executive Magistrate, and the drug addicts were detained.

Later, the mobile court sentenced Saddam to 15 (fifteen) days of simple imprisonment and a fine of 100 Taka, and Sagar and Suman to two months of simple imprisonment and a fine of 100 Taka each.

Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Mohammad Faizul Kabir said they are firmly committed to building a drug-free society. 

In addition to conducting regular drives to eradicate drugs, such activities will continue in the future to suppress drug-related crimes and ensure proper enforcement of the law.
