JHENAIDAH, Dec 3, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 1,540 farmers in Kaliganj upazila of the district received fertilizer and seeds today under the government's incentive programme for the current Rabi season.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rezwana Nahid distributed the incentives among the farmers as the chief guest at a function held on the upazila parishad premises at 10 am. Upazila Agriculture Officer Mahbub Alam Roni chaired the event.

Upazila Fisheries Officer Hasan Sajjad, BRDB Officer Khairul Haque, Agricultural Extension Officer Akhtaruzzaman Mia, and officials from various government departments were also present.

According to the Upazila Agriculture Office, 1,420 farmers each received 5 kg of improved Ufshi or hybrid rice seeds, along with 10 kg of MOP and 10 kg of DAP fertilizers.
Additionally, 120 more farmers received improved hybrid rice seeds.

Speaking on the occasion, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mahbub Alam Roni said the government launched the incentive programme to prevent potential food shortages and boost rice cultivation and production during the current season.
