DSE stocks rebound

DHAKA, Jan 9, 2025 (BSS) - After witnessing a downward trend in the last two sessions, indices of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today rebounded as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
 
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, advanced by 9.4 points to settle at 5,194 points as against 5,185 points in the previous trading session.
 
Meanwhile, trading activities remained stagnant with total turnover in DSE marginally increasing to Taka 3.2 billion as against Taka 3.1 billion in the previous session.
 
On the sectoral front, Bank (13.7%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Pharma (12.8%) and Textile (10.0%) sectors. Sectors mostly displayed mixed returns, out of which Telecom (1.6%), Jute (1.2%) and IT (1.2%) exhibited the most gains on the bourse today, while Ceramic (-1.0%), Pharma (-0.3%) and Financial Institution (-0.2%) exerted some corrections. Out of the 397 issues traded, 156 advanced, 151 declined and 90 remained unchanged.
 
The port city bourse, CSE, however, settled on red terrain. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 14.7 and 20.4 points, respectively.
