Rice to be sold thru OMS at country’s 422 upazilas

DHAKA, Jan 9, 2025 (BSS) – The government will soon sell two metric tons of rice through Open Market Sale (OMS) of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) at 1752 centres under 422 upazilas of the country per day .

The first phase of OMS selling will start in the ongoing month of January and continue till February where two metric tons of rice will be sold daily at each centre of 422 upazilas across the country, said a press release of the Food Ministry today.

The release said that each person can buy at the maximum five kilograms (kg) of rice at TK 30 per kg.

Earlier, OMS activities were being conducted through a total of 908 centres.

Now 844 more centres are   added to the previous centres. The new OMS centres will be set up outside sadar upazilas of the country.
