BRAC Bank receives ‘Top Ten Remittance Award’

DHAKA, Jan 12, 2025 (BSS) – The BRAC Bank was awarded the ‘Top Ten Remittance Award’ at the World Conference Series 2025.

This recognition demonstrates BRAC Bank's unwavering commitment to bolstering economy by simplifying remittance processes for wage earners worldwide.

A leader in facilitating inward remittances to Bangladesh, BRAC Bank set a new benchmark by facilitating wage remittances totaling $1.6 billion in 2024, said a press release today.

This milestone underscores its significant impact on the country's economic stability. The award was presented at the ‘World Conference Series 2025 – Branding Bangladesh: NRB and UN Peacekeepers Leading the Way’ ceremony organised by the Centre for Non-Resident Bangladeshi.

The Centre for Non-Resident Bangladeshi conferred the award to BRAC Bank, acknowledging its pivotal role in driving economic growth, alleviating poverty, and fostering social development across Bangladesh through channeling international remittances in the banking channel.

Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, handed the award plaque yesterday to Md. Shaheen Iqbal, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Treasury and FIs at BRAC Bank, in presence of Md. Touhid Hossain, Adviser, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

M S Shekil Chowdhury, Chairperson, Centre for Non-Resident Bangladeshi; Shahrear Zamil, Head of Remittance and Probashi Banking, BRAC Bank, were also present at the conference held at a hotel in the capital.

This year's World Conference Series, themed 'Branding Bangladesh,' aims to elevate the nation's profile on the global stage. It encourages the Bangladeshi diaspora to increase their investment in the homeland and utilize formal channels for remittances.

BRAC Bank's recognition at the World Conference Series 2025 reflects its significant contribution to the national exchequer and its role as a catalyst for Bangladesh's economic prosperity.

Expatriate Bangladeshis living in any corner of the world can easily send money through BRAC Bank thanks to more than 80 remittance partners integrated with BRAC Bank through API connectivity for real-time transactions.

The wage earners enjoy digital onboarding, Astha App and Probashi products for banking and investment convenience. The beneficiaries can withdraw the money through a vast network comprising 187 branches, 74 sub-branches, and 1,114 Agent Banking Outlets.
