Bashir for proper enforcement of Consumer Rights Protection Act

DHAKA, Jan 19, 2025 (BSS) - Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin today emphasized the need for ensuring proper enforcement of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009. 

He said this while chairing the 28th meeting of the National Consumer Rights Protection Council held at the conference room of the Directorate of the National Consumer Rights Protection here, an official release said.

Putting emphasis on making the common people more aware on consumer rights, he said, "If the consumers can be aware of their rights, then desire will develop among themselves to get those".

Bashir mentioned that the proper enforcement of the consumer rights protection law would have to be enforced to secure everyone.

Noting that every citizen has a liability to the society, he said they should be aware of their due responsibilities and duties in this regard.

If necessary, the commerce adviser also opined for including concepts on consumer rights and enhancing morality in the academic curriculum.

Commerce Secretary (routine charge) Md Navid Shafiullah, Director General of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection Md Abdul Alim Khan, FBCCI Administrator Md Hafizur Rahman, Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) General Secretary Md Humayun Kabir Bhuiyan, Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) Director General SM Ferdous Alam and representative of Directorate General of Drug Administration spoke on the occasion.
