Ctg gets new ICD-based custom house

CHATTOGRAM, July 25, 2025 (BSS)- A new ICD-based custom house will be establish in Chattogram.

Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Abdur Rahman Khan said this in a meeting with custom officials and stakeholders at the Chattogram Custom House today.

A government order in the regard will be issued next month, he said adding that current building of Chattogram Custom House will be demolished and a new building will be constructed. 

The activities of the custom house will be shifted to the World Trade Center in Agrabad for interim period, he said.

The NBR Chairman also mentioned that due to the complexity of the Automated System for Customs Data (asycuda) its brand value has decreased. So, plans to develop a new modern technology within next two years.

Stakeholders of the CCH and C&F agents, highlighted various issues related to unloading goods from the port and ICD.

The NBR Chairman assured honest and reputed businesspersons of providing all support saying steps are being taken to develop new software to ensure efficiency and no disruption in work. 

This will be implemented experimentally in a few customs stations first while entire  process is expected to take at least two years time, he added. 

Abdur Rahman Khan said, initiative has been taken to build three iconic buildings in Chattogram including the Chattogram Custom House.

NBR members Moazzam Hossain, Kazi Mostafizur Rahman, Mubinul Kabir, CCH Shafi Uddin and leaders of the Customs Officers C&F Agents Association were present.
