LALMONIRHAT, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) – The trade activities at Lalmonirhat’s Burimari land port with India's Changrabandha Port have been suspended for three days from Monday to Wednesday (Oct 20-22) on the occasion of the Hindu festival Kali Puja (Diwali).

Although trade activities have been suspended since Monday morning, the movement of passport-holding passengers between the two countries is normal.

Niaz Nahid, General Secretary of the C&F Agent Association of Burimari Land Port, said that import-export operations will be closed from Monday to Wednesday (three days) on the occasion of the Hindu religious festival Kali Puja.

However, administrative activities are ongoing inside the customs house and the port.

He said that normal trade will resume after the festival.

Burimari Land Port Assistant Director (AD) Mahmudul Hasan said that due to the government holiday in India on the occasion of Diwali, the Changrabandha Business Association has sent a letter regarding the closure of all types of commercial activities.

Import-export activities between the two countries will resume normally after the puja.

Confirming the same information, Burimari Land Port Customs Assistant Commissioner Delwar Hossain said that traders at the Indian Changrabandha Customs Station have suspended import-export activities for three days on the occasion of Kali Puja.

However, other activities of the customs house and the port are being conducted normally during this time.
