DSE turnover surges 21.1pc

DHAKA, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) experienced a notable surge in its turnover reaching Taka 4.8 billion.

This significant figure marks a substantial increase of 21.1 per cent compared to the turnover recorded in the DSE's previous session.

DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), plummeted by 22.3 points to settle at 5,089 points as against 5,112 points in the previous trading session. 

On the sectoral front, Pharmaceuticals (12.1%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Engineering (10.9%) and Textile (10.1%) sectors. Sectors mostly displayed dismal returns, out of which General Insurance (-3.2%), Life Insurance (-2.3%) and Paper (-2.3%) exerted the most corrections on the bourse today, while Food (1.1%), Ceramic (0.8%), IT (0.4%) exhibited marginal gains.

Out of the 397 issues traded, 79 advanced, 240 declined and 78 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, however settled on a positive zone. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) increased by 13.3 points and 20.1 points, respectively.
