
CHATTOGRAM, Jan 26, 2026 (BSS) - Md Moazzem Hossain, a member of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), stressed that Customs Day should not be observed as a mere formality, urging customs officials to carry out their responsibilities with sincerity rather than simply going through the motions.
He urged customs officials to be more diligent and committed to their responsibilities to ensure efficient operations.
Moazzem Hossain made these remarks as the chief guest at the International Customs Day seminar held at Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay View today. This year, Customs Day is being celebrated under the theme 'Bangladesh Customs with vigilance and strong commitment to protect the country'. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Md. Neyamul Islam, Additional Director General of Customs Excise and VAT Training Academy.
During the event, a documentary showcasing the activities of Bangladesh Customs was screened. Moazzem Hossain expressed his optimism about the skills of the new generation, stating that they are more skilled than the previous generation. He emphasized the importance of guiding and supporting the younger generation to achieve success and gain the trust of the people.
The program was presided over by Customs Excise and VAT (Appeal) Commissioner Abul Basar Md. Shafiqur Rahman.
Other speakers included Chattogram Tax Zone-1 Commissioner Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Chattogram Customs Excise and VAT Commissionerate Commissioner Sheikh Abu Faisal Md. Murad, Customs Bond Commissioner Md. Mahfuzul Haque Bhuiyan, Cox's Bazar Customs Excise and VAT Commissioner Md. Fazlul Haque, Chattogram Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Abida Sultana, and Chattogram Custom House Commissioner Mohammad Shafi Uddin.
