DHAKA, March 3, 2026 (BSS) - The National Board of Revenue (NBR) today warned that a fraud ring has been using the name of its Chairman through fake email IDs to threaten individuals and demand money.

In a press release issued here today, the NBR said the scam group has been intimidating people by spreading completely false information in the name of the NBR Chairman.

The revenue authority said it has taken the matter seriously and filed a General Diary (GD) with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on March 3, 2026.

The GD number is 258.

The NBR urged its officials, employees and the general public to remain alert and cautious about such fraudulent emails and not to respond to any suspicious communication seeking money in the name of the Chairman.

The revenue board also requested all concerned to verify any such communication through official channels before taking any action.
