DHAKA, May 21, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) today organised a free primary investment education workshop for women investors as part of its ongoing initiative to ensure effective participation of women in the capital market.
A total of 35 women, including existing and prospective investors, took part in the day-long training session held at the commission building's multipurpose hall in the capital, said a press release.
BSEC Commissioner Farzana Lalarukh inaugurated the workshop and underscored the importance of financial literacy for women from all walks of life to help them manage their savings efficiently.
"It is very important for women to have a clear understanding of investment," she said.
"Whether a woman is a student, a housewife or a professional, she will benefit if she makes correct investments by understanding the process. Rather than paying heed to rumours, women should invest their capital by making informed and knowledge-based decisions," she added.
The workshop featured several technical sessions focusing on the fundamentals of financial literacy, investment risks, investor protection and financial planning.
The programme also included an interactive session where participants discussed the practical application of financial concepts in investment decision-making.
BSEC Commissioner Md. Saifuddin delivered the closing remarks and distributed certificates among the participants, appreciating their interest in strengthening investment knowledge.
The commission said the workshop was part of its broader effort to empower women investors through continuous education and capacity-building initiatives so they can make informed investment decisions and contribute meaningfully to the country's capital market.
