RAJSHAHI, May 21, 2026 (BSS) - Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), with the help of modern technology has recovered 101 lost mobile phones and returned those to their rightful owners.

The recovered mobile phones were handed over at a ceremony organised by the Cyber Crime Unit at the conference room of the RMP headquarters this afternoon.

RMP Commissioner Mohammad Foyezul Kabir attended the programme as the chief guest and distributed the phones among the owners.

According to RMP sources, the Cyber Crime Unit identified and recovered the lost mobile phones using information technology based on general diaries (GDs) filed with 12 police stations under the metropolitan area.

The recovered handsets were traced and retrieved not only from different parts of Rajshahi city but also from several districts across the country.

Speaking at the event, the RMP commissioner said recovering a lost mobile phone is a matter of great joy for anyone.

He said the recovered phones could be returned to their actual owners as police members are carrying out their duties with honesty, dedication and professionalism.

"RMP is always sincere and committed to serving city residents. Public service activities are being conducted completely free of charge and this will continue in the future," he added.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the RMP, saying the technology-based initiative has strengthened public trust and confidence in law enforcement agencies.

Additional Police Commissioner Faruk Hossain, Deputy Police Commissioner (CTTC) Gaziur Rahman and other senior police officials were present at the programme.
