Engineer Selim Md Jane Alam appointed as new MD of Ctg WASA

CHATTOGRAM, May 21, 2026 (BSS)- The government has appointed Engineer Selim Mohammad Jane Alam as the Managing Director (MD) of Chattogram WASA. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification today regarding this appointment. 

Engineer Selim Mohammad Jane Alam will serve as the Managing Director on a contractual basis for the next one year. The appointment is made under Section 28(a) of Ordinance No. 10, 2024, which amends the Water Supply and Sewerage Authority Act, 1996.
 
The notification stated that the terms of Engineer Selim Mohammad Jane Alam's appointment will be determined through the contract. Prior to this role, he served as the president of the Association of Engineers Bangladesh (AEB), Chattogram and was also a former VP of Duet Students' Union. He actively participated in various democratic movements, including the mass uprising of students and the public in July, 2024.

Engineer Selim Md. Jane Alam has solidified his career foundation as a production engineer at Alita (BD) Limited, a subsidiary of the Hong Leong Group of Malaysia. With 19 years of experience as an executive director and deputy managing director at Environmental Protection Engineering and Consultants Limited, he has gained expertise in water supply, sanitation, and infrastructure development. His extensive background in these sectors has positioned him as a suitable candidate for his current role.

Upon his appointment, Engineer Selim Md. Jane Alam expressed his commitment to enhancing WASA's institutional capacity and improving service quality. He emphasized the importance of creating a user-friendly water supply system to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and increasing efficiency by reducing operational costs.
