Fugitive accused in 14 cases arrested in Chattogram

CHATTOGRAM, May 21, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested Nur Alam, 51, an absconding accused in 14 cases from the EPZ area of Chattogram today.

Police said the accused is associated with the so-called Hamka Group operating in the EPZ area. Multiple cases were pending against him at different police stations in the city.

Nur Alam is originally from Bitghar area of Nabinagar Upazila in Brahmanbaria. However, he had been staying in Shershah Colony and Patenga areas of Chattogram.

The arrest was made during a raid conducted around 11:30 am in the Saltgola area under EPZ Police Station.

EPZ Police Station Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Atiqur Rahman said Nur Alam was detained based on secret information and was involved in various criminal activities.

He said legal steps are being taken against him in connection with the 14 cases pending with different police stations.
