Brick kiln worker dies in Natore lightning strike

NATORE, May 21, 2026 (BSS) - A brick kiln worker was killed and another injured after being struck by lightning in lalpur upazila of the district this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Esken Ali Bhola, 60, son of Adur Ali of Balitita village in Lalpur upazila. The incident also left worker Shapla Khatun under treatment at a hospital.

According to local sources, several workers were engaged in duties at the Super Brick Kiln in the Sirajipur area of the upazila when the lightning struck around 12 noon.

Following the incident, the injured workers were rushed to the upazila health complex where on-duty doctors declared Esken Ali dead. 

Officer-in-Charge of Lalpur Police Station Shafiqul Islam confirmed the matter and said the body was handed over to the family after completing legal formalities.
