
DHAKA, May 21, 2026 (BSS) - Seven more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours.
During the same period, 1631 patients were admitted to hospitals with measles and related symptoms.
The information was disclosed today in a press release issued by the Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the release, the number of suspected measles cases in the last 24 hours stood at 1,423.
From March 15 to May 21, the total number of suspected measles cases reached 59,279.
The number of confirmed measles cases in the last 24 hours was 208, while the total number of confirmed cases from March 15 to May 21 rose to 8,275.
Since March 15, a total of 46,407 suspected measles patients have been hospitalized. During the same period, 42,336 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery.
In the last 24 hours, four deaths were reported from suspected measles symptoms, bringing the total death toll from suspected measles to 405 since March 15.
Additionally, three deaths were confirmed as measles in the last 24 hours. The total number of confirmed measles deaths since March 15 has reached 83.
The Dhaka division has recorded the highest number of suspected cases at 28,599, of which 5,795 have been confirmed as measles cases.
