JU approves Tk 348.7 cr budget for FY 2026-27

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, June 27, 2026 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University (JU) today approved its annual budget of Tk 348.7 crore for the fiscal year 2026-27.

JU Treasurer Prof Dr M Abdur Rab placed the budget before the university's 43rd annual senate session tonight at the Jannatul Ferdous Senate Hall with Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan in the chair.

The budget increased by Tk 25.45 crore from the previous year's budget of Tk 323.25 crore.

According to the approved budget, the largest share, 57.77 per cent or Tk 201.43 crore, has been allocated for salaries and allowances of teachers, officers and employees. Another 22.38 per cent or Tk 78.03 crore has been earmarked for general supplies, services and administrative expenses.

The university has allocated Tk 37.14 crore or 10.65 per cent for pension and retirement benefits, Tk 11.37 crore (3.26 per cent) for equipment and machinery, Tk 9.47 crore (2.72 per cent) for repair and maintenance of infrastructure, Tk 2.82 crore (0.81 per cent) for information and communication technology (ICT), Tk 2.44 crore (0.70 per cent) for vehicle procurement and Tk 70 lakh (0.20 per cent) for primary healthcare support.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) will provide the major portion of the budget, while the remaining amount will come from the university's internal sources, including admission fees, students' fees and other institutional earnings.
