DHAKA, June 27, 2026 (BSS) - Police Headquarters today dismissed as baseless social media reports claiming that the bodies of seven leaders and activists of the Awami League and Bangladesh Chhatra League were found floating in the Turag River.

In a press release issued today, Police Headquarters said the claim has no factual basis and urged the public not to be misled by such misinformation.

The release said a vested group has been attempting to create public confusion by circulating false and fabricated information on social media.

It said no such incident has been reported anywhere in the country.

Police also said the deliberate spread of such misinformation appears to be aimed at undermining the morale of law enforcement agencies and creating unnecessary public anxiety.

The release reiterated the police's commitment to taking action in accordance with the law against those engaged in circulating false and misleading information.
