DHAKA, May 20, 2026 (BSS)- Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, has said security without accountability can never bring stability in the evolving global order.

He also stressed the need for investment in creating new leadership in view of the rapid expansion of technology.

“Such initiatives will demonstrate our sense of responsibility in building the nation’s future and, at the same time, strengthen people’s trust and confidence,” he said.

The Speaker made the remarks while addressing the closing session of a two-day international conference titled “National Security in South Asia in the Context of the New World Order”, organised by the Centre for Future Studies of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP).

The two day focused on redefining national security in South Asia, transactional multipolarity and regional cooperation, energy security, migration and refugees in South Asia, combating misinformation and disinformation, and regional cooperation in a changing world, said a press release.

The Speaker said national security does not depend solely on internal strength, but also on a nation’s acquired knowledge, wisdom and the stability of international boundaries.

Other speakers of the conference included Dr. Pramod Jaiswal from Nepal, Subashini Abeyasinghe from Sri Lanka, Dr. Salma Malik from Pakistan and Dr. Greg Simons from Sweden, who exchanged views and presented research-based discussions on regional and global security challenges.

The Speaker thanked the organisers, including the university’s Vice-Chancellor Major General Md Mahbub-Ul Alam, for arranging the conference.

Deans of different faculties, senior officials, teachers, researchers, students and invited guests were present.
