Discussion held in Khulna marking World Metrology Day

KHULNA, May 20, 2026 (BSS) - A discussion marking World Metrology Day was 
held today at the conference room of Bangladesh Standards and Testing 
Institution in Khulna.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Abdullah Harun attended the programme as 
the chief guest.

This year's theme of the day is "Metrology for all times, for all people" 
with emphasis on building trust in policymaking through metrology.

Speaking on the occasion, the divisional commissioner stressed the need for 
ensuring the quality of all products and described the theme as timely and 
significant.

Highlighting the importance of metrology in different sectors of society, he 
said accurate measurement must be ensured in every field.

Proper quantity and quality of products should be maintained at every stage 
from production to marketing at the consumer level, he added.
He also urged consumers to remain aware to get quality products and said 
businesspeople can earn consumers' trust by ensuring accurate weight and 
measurement while selling products.

Calling upon traders to conduct business honestly and responsibly, he 
stressed the need for protecting consumer rights.

Deputy Director of Khulna BSTI Md Lutfor Rahman chaired the meeting.

Among others, Additional Police Commissioner Muhammad Shahnewaz Khaled, 
Additional Deputy Commissioner Irufa Sultana and Khulna CAB General Secretary 
M Nazmul Azam David spoke as special guests.

Deputy Director (Chemistry) of BSTI ABM Raisul Alam delivered the vote of 
thanks. Businesspersons, consumers and representatives from different 
organisations were present at the programme.
