
KHULNA, May 20, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan today urged all law enforcement units to work with sincerity and professionalism to ensure a safe, hassle-free Eid-ul-Azha.
Presiding over a security coordination meeting at the KMP headquarters this afternoon, the Commissioner stressed that collective responsibility is vital to keeping the city secure.
To safeguard the holiday rush and cattle markets, he assigned specific tasks to various specialized forces.
The River and District Police will oversee the smooth waterway transport of sacrificial animals, the Highway Police will focus on preventing robberies and road accidents, the Railway Police will boost security at stations and the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) will secure transport terminals and markets.
Additionally, the Commissioner noted that targeted police drives against terrorists, extortionists and drug traders are already underway.
The meeting, attended by the Khulna District Police Superintendent and top officials from the Industrial Police, CID, PBI and Tourist Police, concluded with comprehensive strategies to manage holiday traffic, protect cattle trading and secure the collection and transport of animal hides.
