120 arrested in Mirpur division crackdown

DHAKA, May 20, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 120 people, including members of juvenile gangs and other criminal groups, were arrested during a special crackdown conducted by the Mirpur Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) as part of efforts to ensure public safety and curb drugs, extortion and terrorism.

According to Mirpur Division sources, the daylong drive was carried out on Tuesday in several crime-prone areas under the division. 

During the drive, police also recovered various narcotics and locally made weapons from the arrestees.

Among those arrested, 24 were detained from Mirpur Model Thana, 36 from Pallabi Thana, 14 from Kafrul Thana, 11 from Shah Ali Thana, 14 from Darus Salam Thana, 10 from Bhashantek Thana and 11 from Rupnagar Thana.

The arrested individuals were produced before the court after legal procedures.
