BASIC Bank, Sonali Bank sign agreement to expand digital payment services

DHAKA, June 23, 2026 (BSS) - BASIC Bank PLC and Sonali Bank PLC today signed 
a service agreement aimed at expanding and strengthening digital payment 
services across the country.

Under the agreement, BASIC Bank has been integrated with Sonali Bank's 
proprietary platform, the "Sonali Payment Gateway", enabling customers to 
make payments for fees and charges of educational institutions, utility 
bills, universal pension scheme installments, challan fees and various other 
government and private sector services more easily and securely through BASIC 
Bank, said a press release.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony at Sonali Bank's head office in 
Dhaka.

Managing Director (MD) and CEO of BASIC Bank Md. Quamruzzaman Khan and MD and 
CEO of Sonali Bank Md. Shawkat Ali Khan signed the agreement on behalf of 
their respective sides.

Speaking on the occasion, the officials expressed hope that the integration 
of BASIC Bank with the Sonali Payment Gateway would enhance customer 
convenience, promote cashless transactions and contribute to the government's 
efforts to expand digital financial services.

Among others, Deputy MDs of BASIC Bank Abu Md. Mofazzal and Subhash Chandra 
Das, FCA, FCMA, Deputy MD of Sonali Bank Md. Rafiqul Islam, General Manager 
of Sonali Bank Aklima Islam, General Manager of BASIC Bank Sumit Ranjan Nath 
and senior officials of both banks were present at the event.
