DHAKA, June 22, 2026 (BSS) - A light earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale shook the capital and its surrounding areas at 9:28 pm tonight.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) classified the tremor as "light."

The tremor was the latest in a series of earthquakes recorded since November last year that originated within Bangladesh.

No casualties or major damage were reported immediately after the shaking.
