DHAKA, July 1, 2026 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) today launched a nationwide tree plantation campaign across its export processing and economic zones as part of its commitment to environment-friendly and sustainable industrialization.

BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, inaugurated the programme by planting a Bakul sapling during his visit to the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ), said a press release.

The initiative supports the government's nationwide drive to plant 25 crore  trees over the next five years and reflects BEPZA's commitment to promoting green industrialization and environmental sustainability.

According to BEPZA, the campaign also forms part of its broader strategy to advance decarbonisation, develop green industrial zones and ensure sustainable industrial growth across the country.

The tree plantation programme will be implemented in phases across all export processing zones and economic zones under BEPZA's jurisdiction.

Through the initiative, BEPZA aims to strike a balance between industrial expansion and environmental conservation by creating green, clean and climate-resilient industrial zones.
