DHAKA, July 1, 2026 (BSS) – Senior police officers today appeared in public in new uniforms as the government revised the attires of the country main law enforcement agency introduced by the past interim government.

“Our new dresses were introduced at a ceremony at newly constructed Barkau Police Camp in Purbachal,” a police headquarters spokesman said.

The function, he said, witnessed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir wearing a dark blue shirt paired with khaki trousers and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed in a light olive shirt with khaki trousers.

“The distribution of new uniforms is currently underway.  All police personnel will receive them in phases,” police’s assistant inspector general AHM Sahadat Hossain told BSS.

The spokesman said the change of the outfit was part of the police reform process launched following the August 5, 2024 uprising.

The past interim government earlier designed and introduced new police uniform, which was revised by the incumbent BNP government and Police Headquarters subsequently issued a gazette notification on June 18 introducing the sets of police attires.

Under the new guidelines, district police and most other units will wear dark blue shirts with khaki trousers, while specialised units, including APBn, SPBn, SB, CID and RAB, will have separate uniform specifications.
