DHAKA, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) - Workers' remittance inflow to Bangladesh increased by 16.4 percent year-on-year during the first 71 days of the current fiscal year (FY2026-27), reaching US$6.73 billion up to September 8, according to Bangladesh Bank (BB) data.

The country received US$5.78 billion in remittances during the corresponding period of FY2025-26, meaning inflows increased by around US$950 million in the period under review.

The latest figures also showed a positive trend in September. Bangladesh received US$133 million in workers' remittances on September 8 alone.

During September 1-8, expatriate Bangladeshis sent home US$904 million, 
compared with US$881 million during the same period of September 2025, 
registering a 2.7 percent increase.

The strong growth in remittance inflows is providing continued support to the 
country's foreign exchange reserves and external-sector stability.
