NATORE, Jan 1, 2025 (BSS) - A schoolboy died falling from a roof during New Year celebrations with friends in the Officepara area under Boraigram upazila of the district last night.

The deceased was identified as Ishtiak Hossain, 16, an SSC candidate at St Joseph School and College in Bonpara and son of Iqbal Hossain Babu, a resident of Kalikapur municipality.

Victim's father Iqbal Hossain said Ishtiak went to his friend Anir's house for 31st night celebrations.
Ishtiak slipped and eventually fell off the roof while jumping to another roof around 11:30 pm. His friends rescued him and rushed him to a local private hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead, he said.

Officer-in-Charge of Baraigram Police Station Sirajul Islam confirmed the matter.
