Smuggled goods worth over Tk 1.43 crore seized in Sylhet

SYLHET, Jan 1, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 48 Battalion in separate drives seized huge quantity of smuggled goods from Sylhet and Sunamganj frontier areas today.

Sylhet BGB 48 Battalion Commander Lt. Col Md Hafizur Rahman said the BGB men conducted the drives in Pratappur, Utma, Sreepur, Kalasadek and Bishnakandi areas of the two districts this morning and seized the goods.

The smuggle goods included Indian sarees, Garnier cream, clothes, Ponds face wash, cane, sugar, cow dung, poppy seeds, body spray, candy, soap, Scooty. Besides, smuggled goods from Bangladesh and a Mahindra tractor used to transport smuggled goods were seized, BGB sources said.

The BGB said that the estimated value of the seized goods is about Taka 1 crore 43 lakh 96 thousand 700.
