CHATTOGRAM, Jan 1, 2025 (BSS)- Dense fog and cold wave have almost paralyzed the public life in the port city as well as in the district that also disrupted air, water and road communications causing huge sufferings to the people.

Chattogram is experiencing chill-bite weather coupled with dense fog as cold wave sweeps over different parts of the region, Met Office sources said.

Night temperature may fall slightly over Chattogram division and it may remain nearly unchanged for next couple of days as elsewhere in the country, it said.

The sources said the temperature is likely to rise a little from Saturday. The lowest temperature was recorded 15.4 degree Celsius at city's Patenga today.

Cold weather has resulted in prevalence of various cold-related diseases among infants and elderly people, Dr Mohammad Kutubuddin of Chattogram Medical college hospital told BSS.

Street people are seen lighting fires to keep them warm as the sun remains invisible from morning up to early noon due to dense fog.

Sources in the Traffic Control room of Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport (CSAIA) said dense fog disrupted schedules of domestic and international flights delaying their operation for one to two hours.

Omar Faruk, Secretary of Chattogram Port authority said due to thick fog movement of vessels through port channel remained suspended for two to three hours in early hours of today.
