Infusing dynamism into social services stressed

KHULNA, Jan 2, 2025 (BSS) - Speakers at a discussion here today unanimously viewed that infusing dynamism into the social services can be the best way of welfare of the people with special needs and other underprivileged sections of the society.
 
Emphasis should be given on ensuring transparency and accountability in all the welfare-oriented social service activities so that the target group of people could derive total benefits of the welfare programmes.
 
The government officials and development activists came up with the observation while addressing a post-walkathon discussion on the issues related to social services.
 
The Department of Social Services (DSS) organised the discussion at its conference hall in observance of the National Social Service Day-2025.
 
This year's theme of the day is 'Nei Pashe Keo Jar, Somajseba Achhe Tar'.

Divisional Commissioner Firoj Sarker addressed the discussion as the chief guest, while DSS Divisional Director Anindita Roy, Additional Deputy Commissioner Nurul Hai Muhammad Anas and DSS Deputy Director Kanij Mostofa spoke as special guests.

Earlier, a cross-section of people along with the DSS officials and staff brought out a walkathon from Shialbari crossing that ended at the DSS office premises.

Commissioner Firoj Sarker said the DSS has been working on the welfare of the distressed people and it always remains beside the helpless and underprivileged people.
 
He also urged the officials and staff concerned to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for successful implementation of the programmes.
 
Nearly 100 government and non-government officials and employees and volunteers joined the programme.
