PATUAKHALI, Jan 23, 2025 (BSS) - Two people were killed in separate accidents in Bauphal upazila of the district this morning.

A motorcycle rider was killed in a road accident on the Bauphal-Barishal highway in Rajanagar area of the upazila early this morning, said Md Kamal Hossain, officer-in-Charge of Bauphal Police Station.

The deceased was identified as Tariqul Sharif, 35, son of Abu Bakar Sharif, a resident of Ward No- 8 of Kanakdia union of the upazila. 

On the other hand, a fisherman was killed when his fishing trawler sank after being hit by a launch at Mathbaria Point in Dhulia union section of Tentulia river of the upazila, said Kalaiya Naval Police Station in-charge Tariqul Islam.
 
The deceased was Sentu Pyada, 50, son of late Awlad Pyada of Mominpur village under Keshabpur union of the upazila.

Police are investigating the details of the incident and legal action will be taken, the OC said.
